

My Latest Seascape Demonstration
A time lapse video of my latest surf painting, “Sweeping Surf,” Oil, 30 x 24 in. Seascape became a passion of mine after I moved to the east coast about five years ago. I love to use impasto brushwork to capture movement and subtle shifts in color and these techniques can be pushed even further in capturing the dynamic qualities of the sea - the variations in transparency and movement as water rises into a wave, is transformed into spray by the wind, and then breaks violently


Tour of New Studio 320
A tour of my studio/gallery on the third floor (#320) of Torpedo Factory Art Center, the space I’ve occupied since my move from the first floor in November. I’m usually open 11-5 Wednesday through Sunday and love to have visitors!

Anthony was my studio next door neighbor here at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. We sometimes painted together sharing a model in my studio. I asked him one day whether he would be willing to pose for me and he agreed. I also learned that he would be leaving us and returning to his native Nigeria. Cherry Blosson Polyptych Completed
These nine 10 x 10 inches paintings form a polyptych titled “April Blooms,” my latest creation in honor of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The celebration begins Saturday at the Torpedo Factory Art Center with a building wide exhibition of art inspired by the iconic flower.


"Corona Mist" Accepted Into OPA National Exhibition
My latest ocean surf painting Corona Mist , oil, 30 x 30 in. was accepted into the OPA National Exhibition to be held this year at the Mark Arts Center in Wichita, Kansas. Here are three days of work in distilled into 40 seconds.

Painting on the Outer Banks
We spent a week this summer at a condo on the outer banks near Duck, North Carolina and I spent some time painting on the beach. This is my recently completed painting (oil, 40x30 inches) of my son, Henry, from our vacation. I titled it On Corolla Beach , (oil, 40 x 30 in.) That’s the rest of us playing in the surf.

I attended the American Impressionist Society National Exhibition that opened yesterday at the beautiful Somerville Manning Gallery in Greenville, Delaware. My painting Yellow Peonies II , oil, 36 x 28 in. was juried into the show.


"Where Micah Dwells" at the OPA National
My painting Where Micah Dwells was featured in the OPA National Exhibition held at Reinert Fine Art in Charleston, South Carolina. This painting was made with the model Micah Davenport, a lovely young woman who happened to walk into my studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center one day and was willing to pose for this painting which I began during the Friday Late Night open house. Many of my aesthetic motivations are largely subconscious and beyond simple explanation. I trust
